KEW GREEN
This detached locally listed Victorian house , in Richmond, was fully remodelled and extended. It is home to a family of avid art collectors and they, as members, love the Soho House aesthetic. The concept builds off this alongside the house’s location, next to Kew Gardens, to create their forever home.
Through various extensions and modifications, we created a ground floor living area that features an expansive space for entertaining with a beautiful sunken sofa pit with a TV conveniently hidden behind tapestry hanging over a dragged plaster finished wall. This all opens out into the garden through five sets of 3.5 metre high arched burnished bronze doors; a contemporary take on Victorian steel framed windows. These flood the space with dappled natural light, best for appreciating their art collection.
In other areas a wine cellar is hidden behind a door concealed by plaster bookshelves. The hall features a grand limestone staircase with a bronze handrail that leads upstairs to a first floor dedicated to the master suite and a second floor housing the children's bedrooms. The material palette throughout was thoughtfully curated to evoke an avant-garde yet crafted, handmade feel.
The project was designed in collaboration with Linda Boronkay Design Studio and featured in Elle Decoration and Sotheby's magazine.
